|Drivetrain Complete|
Some more progress has been made on the Grip Royal restomod S13 in the last few weeks. Here’s a quick rundown of what all has been done. First of all, I’m sure you notice the ISR Performance front mount intercooler securely mounted to the car at this point. All that needs to be done is the piping. The holes for the piping just need to be marked and cut and the intercooler setup is done. Another thing that has yet to be done is the wiring up front. The relay box on the driver’s side has already been mounted and completed, we still need to finish the passenger’s side relay box.
The engine bay, just as shiny as before, is being filled more and more every day. At this point, the A/C compressor has been mounted and the lines have been connected. Scott is using a Cody Ace compressor bracket, which allows you to use an S13 KA A/C compressor on an SR. The valve cover has also been cleaned, painted, and etched. A simple Grip Royal text logo looks perfect on the front of the SR valve cover. You’ll also see that the power steering has been hooked up.
To change gears, Scott equipped an ISR Performance short shifter. A great shifter for the price, and it feels much, much better than the stock S13 shifter.
The exhaust is something that catches your eye every time you look at it. This picture properly shows the amount of thought that went into designing this thing. The craftsmanship is top notch and the welds are genuinely pleasing to look up. PBM re-purposed existing bolt holes to tuck the exhaust up as close to the car as possible. You can’t even see the exhaust from the side of the car!
Stay tuned to our blog, Scott has been very determined to finish this car and the progress is great! The next thing to do is connect all the intercooler piping, install the new fan and shroud, and finish plumbing all the fuel lines.
